President Trump did a 180 degree reversal of his position on Bashar al-Assad. Just a couple of days earlier his spokespeople declared that it would not be US policy in Syria to force Assad from power and so the Syrian “President” celebrated by dropping sarin nerve gas on his own people. The proximity of the two raised concerns that Assad felt he had a green light to do whatever he wanted and led to a quick punitive strike by US Tomahawk cruise missiles on a Syrian air force base. All this with the Chinese President Xi Jinping visiting Trump at the southern White House. What to make of all this? The specter of uncertainty has been elevated and this adds a higher level of risk to equities.
Finally we are back to nine justices on the Supreme Court and a conservative replaced the epitome of conservative justices, Anthony Scalia. The end of the filibuster for Supreme Court nominee’s was so overblown by a crew that can’t blow their nose without seeking a point of order. Deliberative body my ass, it’s a bunch of people who can’t get enough of themselves and a billboard for term limits, but I don’t have an opinion on the subject.
Enjoy your weekend and for a really good time why don’t you come over and cut my grass!!!
