The 2017 Primetime Emmy Awards show started off by taking jabs at President Donald Trump, and is now paying for it in the ratings. Big League.

According to Deadline, 11.38 million viewers tuned in to watch host Stephen Colbert roast Trump on live television while also bringing out his former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer. The ratings for the 69th annual show ties last year’s show hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.

In the 18-49 age demographic, Sunday night’s Emmys received a 2.5 rating, which is down 10 percent from the 2016 show.

Of course, their ratings aren’t solely based on politics. The NFL’s Sunday night game between the Atlanta Falcons and Green Bay Packers got a 21 share and an overnight rating of 12.6. However, television ratings for the 2016-17 NFL season were down eight percent from a mix of the 2016 election to Colin Kaepernick protesting the national anthem.

An increasing number of viewers are changing the channel or turning off their televisions because almost every aspect of entertainment is becoming politicized.

Just in the past week, ESPN capped off a rating implosion from 2016 that led to hundreds of layoffs when Jemele Hill, host of the 6pm edition of SportsCenter, called President Trump a “white supremacist” and a “bigot.”

Viewers are tired on the constant politicization of the entertainment they consume, and not many are learning the hard lessons the come with it.
