Hillary: We elected someone who admitted sexual assault to the presidency

Former Secretary of State and 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is doing her part to condemn Donald Trump for his alleged sexual misconduct, and even made a comparison between him and Hollywood producer and loyal Democratic donor Harvey Weinstein.
In two interviews in the U.K., Clinton made comparisons between Trump and Weinstein, both of whom she’s known for much of her life.
“Look, we just elected someone who admitted sexual assault to the presidency. So there’s a lot of other issues that are swirling around these kinds of behaviors that need to be addressed,” Clinton said to Channel 4 News on Saturday, in response to a question about Harvey Weinstein.
In a separate interview with BBC’s Andrew Marr, Clinton repeated her comments on Sunday when asked about Weinstein’s predatory behavior.
Clinton, who did not deny that Weinstein is a friend and donor to her campaign, wants to keep the attention on the women coming forward.
“I think it’s important that we stay focused, and shine a bright spotlight, and try to get people to understand how damaging this is. The women coming forward is the only way that that story will be told.”
However, moments later, she justified her dismissal of her husband’s accusers, especially when then-candidate Trump invited them to one of the presidential debates.
“That had all been litigated,” Clinton agreeing that it was the “right” move. “That was the subject of a huge investigation […] in the late ’90s. And there were conclusions drawn. That was clearly in the past. But it is something that has to be taken seriously as I say for everyone, not just for those in entertainment right now.”
She went on to say that she will be donating all the money Weinstein gave to the Clinton campaign to charity. But in a separate interview with CNN‘s Fareed Zakaria, Clinton said, “Well, there’s no one to give it back to.” On Monday, it was reported that the Clinton Foundation will not be returning donations estimated between $100,000 to $250,000, which were given by Weinstein as recently as 2014.
It’s obviously not hard for Clinton to perform these types of mental gymnastics with respect to being a feminist leader and covering for sexual assault – after all, she’s been making excuses for her husband’s sins since she first entered the public spotlight. It shouldn’t be hard for Clinton allies and her supporters to condemn both Hillary and her husband for the actions they took regarding Bill’s many scandals.
Donald Trump is no beacon of morality by any stretch, but Hillary is no longer the face of the Resistance. Democrats have moved on, and it’s time Hillary supporters recognize her contributions to further support the culture that leads to women being sexually harassed and assaulted.
